Many sites and articles on points and miles focus on business class flight redemptions and high-end hotels. This is great for solo, pair, or even families with only one or two kids. We have seven kids ranging in age from 23 to 2 and we need to approach travel (and miles and points) with a different philosophy.
In a nutshell – I’m looking for how to make travel more affordable for us so that we can take great trips that we all enjoy rather than looking for the greatest redemption.
This means a few things:
- We fly economy. I can usually get 7 economy tickets for the same price as 3-4 business class tickets.
- Right now, I’m prioritizing cash back over points for day-to-day spending
- I’m OK spending points at 1 CPP at times to help offset travel costs and let us fit a trip into our budget.
